II. Collection and Use of Information
Uniters.org may collect and make use of personal information to assist in the operation of our website, and to ensure delivery of the services you choose to avail yourself of here.
At times, we may use personally identifiable information from your profiles (namely your email address) as a means to keep you informed of updates to our organization. For these, and other, updates, you are free to opt-out at any time – meaning you will not begin to receive communications of the sort you tell us you wish to opt-out of from then on.
This website, and/or other online properties you may visit, may collects various types of information, such as voluntarily provided information or automatically collected meta data which may include, but are not limited to:

- mailing and/or home address(es)
- email address(es)
- phone number(s)
- banking information – should you choose to donate via check, though the mail
- billing and/or credit card information, etc. – through the use of third party services only (we we will never handle or keep your credit card information)

Like any other website, our centrist community websites, and other properties build for independent centrists and political moderates, uses ‘cookies’. These cookies are used to store information including visitors’ preferences, and the pages on the website that the visitor accessed or visited. The information is used to optimize the users’ experience by customizing our web page content based on visitors’ browser type and/or other information.
You can choose to disable cookies through your individual browser options. To know more detailed information about cookie management with specific web browsers, it can be found at the browsers’ respective websites.
You may be able to block some of these with web browser extensions, and we do not discourage you from doing so – this is your decision, and yours alone. Just know that doing so may result in areas of the site not functioning correctly, or you not being able to log into the site or engage in commenting. As there are too many variables to possibly account for, we cannot help you on this front, should you choose to use software that blocks site functionality.
Uniters.org follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this and a part of hosting services’ analytics. The information collected by log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users’ movement on the website, and gathering demographic information.
Please be assured that Uniters.org will only collect information that you knowingly and willingly provide by way of forms you freely choose to fill out, or is automatically populated through the creation of your account using the Facebook login system.
Third party analytics services (such as Google Analytics, which is the industry standard) will automatically collect certain meta data when you visit – unless you block it (which you are free to do).
Note: user profiles displaying publicly, so many activities you engage in, and/or content you publish on our system could potentially be seen by both logged in users, as well as site visitors and search engines – though the public will only be able to participate
When you provide our website with personal information, you consent to our collecting and using it. If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason, like an email newsletter, you must give your express consent, and will always be provided with an opportunity to say no, and/or cancel at any time.
All users and/or visitors to Uniters.org have the option to discontinue receiving communication from us, and/or reserve the right to discontinue receiving communications by way of third party services or email.
If, after you opt-in, you change your mind and would like to end any connection, scheduled communication, close an account or delete content you published on our platform, you may do so at any time by using the functionality to do so in your account settings, unsubscribe links to emails, unfollowing any of our social accounts, by sending us a message.
IV. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Unless you send donations to our centrist organization in the form of a check through the mail, we will not come into contact with your your credit card or bank information, and if you do donate by check, we will not record anything except what we are required to record by law (which does not include account or routing information), before passing the check on to our bank.
For those who purchase items from our store, your payment information will also not be handled by Uniters.org, but rather will be processed by the secure payment services those items are sold through (we are planning on using Amazon, Zazzle and RedBubble to start).
We will not share any information you give us, unless we receive express permission to do so, or we believe we are required to do so in accordance with applicable laws and/or in a good faith belief that such action is deemed necessary, or is required, in an effort to:
- Remain in compliance with any decrees, laws and/or statutes, or in an effort to comply with any process which may be served upon Uniters.org and/or any subsidiary or service.
- Maintain, safeguard and/or preserve all the rights and/or property of Uniters.org; and
- Perform under demanding conditions in an effort to safeguard the personal safety of users of Uniters.org and/or the general public.
Should we ever merge with, or be absorbed by, another centrist organization, any personal information we have will only be shared with that parent organization if we receive permission from you first.
To protect your personal information, Uniters.org endeavors to take precautions necessary to maintain adequate physical, procedural and technical security, with respect to our offices and information storage facilities, so as to prevent any loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure or modification of user’s personal information stored on our servers.
We will take reasonable precautions, and follow industry best practices, to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.
Uniters.org uses standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL), encrypted connections between visitors’ browsers and our system, for authentication and private communications, to provide simple and secure access and communication.
All stored data, including any information you choose to share on our website, is backed up regularly, to multiple secure, third party locations.
Should we discover that our system has been hacked in a way that divulges previously private personal information of any users, we will inform all active site members within 48 hours.
VII. AGE OF CONSENT
The safety and security of our nation’s children is of paramount importance. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide the online activity of the youth under their care.
Anyone under the age of 13 must seek and obtain parental or guardian permission to use this our centrist community websites and online services. By using this site, you represent that you are at least the age of majority in your state or province of residence, or that you are the age of majority in your state or province of residence and you have given us your consent to allow any of your minor dependents to use this site.
Uniters.org does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent.
If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.
If it is determined that such information has been inadvertently collected on anyone under the age of 13, we will quickly take steps necessary to ensure that such information is quickly and permanently deleted from our system’s database and backups.
