I wrote a post for the NPR station in New York City, talking about why I’m heading out to New York City for the launch of the new political organization No Labels. After that was posted (coincidentally… the moment I turned 31, The program kicks off with a lot about Micheal Bloomberg’s comments yesterday, regarding the two major parties’ inadequate and ineffectively partisan actions on the economy.
The part I’m on starts at around 19 minutes in, but the whole segment is really worth listening to if you’ve got the time. He and I chatted mostly about who centrists are and why many of us are moving away from Obama, among other things.
Enjoy:
Only thing I wish I had been able to say is that there are many centrists who stayed home in 2006, and didn’t vote for either the democrats or republicans, during the segment where he was asking why so many had swung. I was able to get out that more republicans have left that party in recent years, and that many libertarians, who generally vote for the GOP, identify as independents in polls that only give the option of major parties and independents. This is true, but that is only half of the story, in that a lot of left leaners stayed home, while the right leaners were fired up.
